This anniversary was an opportunity for Africa CDC to celebrate all the stakeholders who support Africa CDC in the achievement of its mission and to reiterate its
commitment to support public health initiatives of Member States and strengthen the capacity of their public health institutions to detect, prevent, control and respond quickly and effectively to disease threats through the New Public Health Order and to show appreciation to the entire Africa CDC’s Staff whose dedication is invaluable.

Speaking during the event held in Addis Ababa, the Director General, Hon. Jean Kaseya stated, “It is with great pride that we see Africa CDC growing, thriving and achieving more than we imagined in just seven years of its existence. As we reflect on our collective achievements, we are inspired by the impact created, the lives saved, and the resilience of our continent.” He advocated for a New Public Health Order for Africa, emphasising the necessity for a fundamental shift in the approach to public health, calling for Africa to take its health security in its own hands, with a focus on strong local leadership, innovative solutions, investment in comprehensive public health infrastructure, and self-reliance.
