Africa Public Health Foundation (APHF) held a fundraising reception hosted by the Governing Council in Nairobi, Kenya. The reception had guests from diverse backgrounds, including Africa CDC, development partners, embassies and private sector who came together to support APHF’s critical work.

 

Dr. Bernard Haufiku, Founder and Governing Council chair said, “APHF supports the Africa CDC new public health order in its mission to build a healthier and more prosperous Africa. We are a partnership platform, facilitating collaboration, resource mobilisation and grants management for critical public health initiatives across the continent. We are grateful to all our partners who have made it possible for us to be where we are today.”

 

The Director General of Africa CDC, Hon. Dr. Jean Kaseya, through a video recording reiterated, “APHF is our esteemed resource mobilisation partner and will
play a vital role to facilitate attracting resources to Africa CDC. This reception is an opportunity for us to introduce our flagship priorities and share our vision
on what we want to achieve.”

 

The evening featured a compelling keynote address from the Executive Director of Eco Bank, Samwel Odhiambo, who spoke passionately about the importance of investing in public health initiatives in Africa. “I have seen the personal commitment from the Governing Council and the Secretariat and I am proud of the work being done.” During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ecobank Kenya donated to the emergency response fund, Kes 10 million.
