In our strategic priorities to develop investment cases to support fundraising specific to Africa CDC’s programmatic priorities /flagships with clear messaging appealing to private−sector oriented funders, we were honoured to host a team of five from Roche Africa in our Nairobi office to discuss how we can collaborate and what value add we can bring on to the work Roche is doing around access to pharmaceutical and diagnostics capacity.

Their work across Pharma and Diagnostics divisions accelerates research & development and enhances their understanding of disease mechanisms in order to offer a comprehensive portfolio of diagnostic solutions, medicines and digital products that work together to improve healthcare for all.

The two hour conversation focused on what is the need, what policies exist and what policies do the 55 African Union Member States need, and how could this then inform a complementary programme. We discussed both the APHF and Roche strategies and what steps we need to take for the partnership to move forward. Roche has a 10 year program 10X that is focused on growing its reach by 10 times in the next 10 years.

Roche extended an invitation to APHF to join their advisory board providing guidance on pandemic preparedness.
