Ambassador Dennis Awori, a Governing Council member of the Africa Public Health Foundation (APHF), has been appointed as the Chancellor of the United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) for a term of five years effective April 10, 2025. The installation ceremony took place on June 13, 2025 at the University grounds. The Board of Trustees of USIU-Africa announced his appointment to the university community on May 14, 2025 citing it as a significant milestone in the realization of USIU-Africa’s vision of being the premier institution of academic excellence with global perspective. In this historic event where the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor were installed on the same day, this prestigious appointment recognizes Amb. Awori’s lifelong dedication to leadership, diplomacy, and education, further cementing his legacy as a transformative figure in Africa’s development.
Amb. Awori brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is currently the Chairman and Country Delegate of CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited and CFAO Kenya Limited and Executive Director of CFAO SAS (Paris), subsidiaries of Toyota Tsusho Corporation of Japan. He previously served as Kenya’s Ambassador to Japan. He is a key advocate for public health and education across the continent. His tenure on the APHF Governing Council has been marked by visionary guidance, particularly in strengthening health systems and fostering partnerships to combat Africa’s most pressing health challenges.
As Chancellor of USIU-Africa, Amb. Awori will oversee the university’s strategic direction, championing academic excellence, innovation, and Pan-African collaboration.
